Master of Arts in Bharatanatyam Dance
Duration: Two years program (2 semesters each year).
This Master of Arts program in Bharatanatyam is aimed to harness the potential of an aspiring danseuse to be able to integrate skill, talent, aesthetics, and abilities with academic excellence. The program content has been carved out with in-depth knowledge by experienced scholars-artistes in the field, who will also handle the program.
The gnawing gap between theoria (Sastra) and praxis (Prayoga) that is often seen in the art spectrum will certainly be filled due to the well-designed program structure. This program augments the existing capacity of the students in the field of choreography, performance, teaching, and opens avenues for further research. Serious and dedicated practitioners and enthusiastic aspirants with training in Bharatanatyam will emerge as holistic visionaries after the completion of this graduate program.
Admission Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree from an approved or accredited institution is required
- Practical dance training of at least 6 years

Four out of Five Elective Courses
- GBN 601: Sathvikabhinaya (3 CH)
- GBN 602: Choreography (3 CH)
- GBN 603: Indian Architecture, Agama Sastra and Dance (3 CH)
- GBN 604: Rhythm and Nattuvangam (3 CH)
- GBN 605: Traditional Theater Art Forms (3 CH)
Evaluation
The evaluation has the following components:
- Final exams
- Mid-term exams
- Assignments
- A Thesis
- An Oral Defense
Students will be awarded a degree in Master of Arts in Bharatanatyam Dance, on their successful completion of all the required courses, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher based on the evaluation weightages across the various methods/metrics.
